Քրիքոր ??? By What stretch of the word!!!

(NOTE: Krikor or քրիքոր means "friend" or "fellow Armenian")

A friend just informed me that our mutual friend and (my former classmate) was on a CNN spot this past Friday that was devoted to the topic of immigration policy.

Watch Video

Take a look. Another fine example of a state run media, controlled from the grave by the previous administration. Here's an e-mail I sent back to my informant friend:

===============================================================================================
I watched the segment on CNN. That's _ my_ classmate!!! Now I can place the face with the name but I'm still trying to remember which classes we had in common (maybe Biology with Leland Johnson?)

Yea Mary!!! Way to stand up to ignoramuses!!! It is extremely annoying the way that CNN continues to cast itself as being neutral--especially when they obviously stack their cards in favor of their corporate sponsors.

The truth of the matter is that CNN is a {sorry excuse} for a news channel and these days only slightly less biased than FOX news.
{}=means alternate to preferred phrase

Note the following:
1. Caller #2 (democrats line) got through the screener but was obviously not a democrat

2. In fact, except for the Nigerian and the caller at about 18 minutes, who was incomprehensible and didn't really make a point, there were hardly any progressively based calls at all.

3. Moderator calls Krikorian "Mr. Krikorian", but didn't address Ms. Giovagnoli with any kind of formal title even once.

4. The phone numbers:
202-737-0002 DEM's, listed first (oh isn't that nice that they acknowledge that we have a majority in all 3 branches of government)

202-737-0001 REP's ---notice the 0001 so it's obvious who got hooked up first

5. Just look at the headlines which appear on the CNN page (accessed 01/04/2010 at around 2:00pm, with my own commentary in ALL CAPS)

Here's an "idea for a story" I sent to CNN via their web-form:

CNN has long been the champion of objectivity in a time when more and more news outlets begin to look like they are state controlled---under the previous administration. CNN goes to great lengths to preserve its respectability including a second line for democrats, actually taking an occasional call from a progressive, and hosting a soapbox for a reactionary right wing guest with an occasional comment allowed from a second, non-reactionary right-wing guest. Thats why millions turn to CNN instead of Shun Sanity or Russ Limbo--they like to be fooled into believing that they're actually getting something different.

TOP 5 REASONS OBAMA SUPPORTERS SHOULDN'T REST EASY

1. The polls may be wrong. This is an unprecedented election. No one knows how racism may affect what voters tell pollsters—or what they do in the voting booth. And the polls are narrowing anyway. In the last few days, John McCain has gained ground in most national polls, as his campaign has gone even more negative.
2. Dirty tricks. Republicans are already illegally purging voters from the rolls in some states. They're whipping up hysteria over ACORN to justify more challenges to new voters. Misleading flyers about the voting process have started appearing in black neighborhoods. And of course, many counties still use unsecure voting machines.
3. October surprise. In politics, 15 days is a long time. The next McCain smear could dominate the news for a week. There could be a crisis with Iran, or Bin Laden could release another tape, or worse.
4. Those who forget history... In 2000, Al Gore won the popular vote after trailing by seven points in the final days of the race. In 1980, Reagan was eight points down in the polls in late October and came back to win. Races can shift—fast!
5. Landslide. Even with Barack Obama in the White House, passing universal health care and a new clean-energy policy is going to be hard. Insurance, drug and oil companies will fight us every step of the way. We need the kind of landslide that will give Barack a huge mandate.
